Much of my work since I graduated from college in 2012 has been as a teacher. I have worked since 2013 as a poet-teacher through California Poets in the Schools. I have worked since 2016 as a writing tutor both freelance and through Signet Education. And I have taught classes or given lectures at Mendocino College, Wesleyan University, Antioch University, and UCLA.

In  2019 I completed an 81-page guide to teaching poetry in grade- and high-school classrooms. (It is currently unpublished—email me with inquiries or to receive a copy.)

I love teaching. At its best, it is a magical encounter that transforms both student and teacher. For this reason I also love reading, thinking, and writing about pedagogy. The greatest lesson my students have given me is how much I have left to learn.
